<p>This study aimed to examine the role of resilience and perfectionism in predicting academic burnout among female students of public universities in Tehran. This applied study employed a descriptive-correlational design. The statistical population consisted of female students enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs at public universities in Tehran during the 2025–2026 academic year. Using convenience sampling, 450 students were selected as the study sample. Data were collected using the Maslach Burnout Inventory–Student Survey, the Hill Perfectionism Inventory, and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale. The collected data were analyzed through Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The results of the regression analysis of variance indicated that the predictive model of academic burnout based on resilience and perfectionism was statistically significant (F=222.269, p=0.001). The regression and total sums of squares indicated that resilience and perfectionism jointly explained approximately 49.9% of the variance in academic burnout. The regression coefficients showed that resilience was a significant negative predictor of academic burnout (B=-0.317, β=-0.569, t=-12.396, p=0.001), whereas perfectionism was a significant positive predictor of academic burnout (B=0.104, β=0.182, t=3.968, p=0.001). In addition, the tolerance and variance inflation factor values indicated that the assumption of no multicollinearity was met. The findings demonstrated that resilience and perfectionism significantly predict academic burnout among students. Accordingly, perfectionism may function as a risk factor that increases academic burnout, while resilience appears to serve a protective role by reducing vulnerability to burnout. Therefore, educational and psychological interventions aimed at strengthening resilience and modifying maladaptive perfectionistic tendencies may be effective in preventing or reducing academic burnout in university students.</p>
