Author Guidelines

The Journal of Cognition, Behavior, Learning (JCBL) welcomes original and high-quality manuscripts in Persian that align with the journal's scope and focus. This document provides comprehensive guidelines for authors regarding the structure, formatting, and submission process.

General Requirements

1. Language and Structure:

   • The full text of the article must be written in Persian.
   • Articles must include:
     • An abstract in both Persian and English (maximum 250 words each).
     • An extended abstract in English, ranging between 800 to 1200 words.

2. Submission Format:

   • Submissions must be in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
   • Articles must be formatted as per the instructions provided below.

3. Length:

   • The article should not exceed 7000 words, including references, figures, and tables.
   • The extended English abstract (800–1200 words) is not included in the total word count.

Manuscript Structure

All submitted manuscripts should follow the structure outlined below:

1. Title Page

• Title of the article in Persian and English.
• Names, affiliations, and contact information of all authors (include ORCID IDs if available).
• The corresponding author must be clearly identified.
• Acknowledgments (if applicable).

2. Abstract

• Provide an abstract in Persian (maximum 250 words) and English (maximum 250 words).
• The abstract must summarize the objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of the study.

3. Keywords

• Include 3–5 keywords in both Persian and English.

4. Main Text (in Persian)

• The article should be divided into the following sections:
  1. Introduction: Background, objectives, and significance of the study.
  2. Methods: Detailed description of the methodology used in the study.
  3. Results: Presentation of the findings with tables and figures (if applicable).
  4. Discussion: Interpretation of the findings in relation to existing literature.
  5. Conclusion: Summary of the main findings and their implications.
• All headings and subheadings must be written in Persian.

5. Extended Abstract in English

• Provide a detailed extended abstract (800–1200 words) summarizing the study’s background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
• This extended abstract must include the following:
  1. Introduction
  2. Methodology
  3. Results
  4. Discussion
  5. Conclusion
  • Use Times New Roman font for the extended abstract.

6. References

• References should be listed at the end of the article and formatted in APA style (7th Edition).
• The reference list should be in English, even for Persian sources.
• In-text citations must follow APA style.

Formatting Guidelines

1. Font and Spacing:

   • Persian Text: Use B Mitra, 14-point size for the main text, and 12-point size for footnotes.
   • English Text: Use Times New Roman, 12-point size.
   • Line spacing: 1.5 lines for the main text, single spacing for tables, figures, and footnotes.

2. Margins:

   • Set page margins to 2.5 cm (1 inch) on all sides.

3. Paragraphs:

   • Use justified alignment for all text.
   • Indent the first line of each paragraph by 0.5 cm.

4. Headings:

   • Use clear and consistent headings throughout the manuscript.
   • Headings in Persian must use B Mitra (bold, size 14).

5. Tables and Figures:

   • All tables and figures must be labeled in Persian and accompanied by captions in both Persian and English.
   • Use Times New Roman for English captions.
   • Place tables and figures within the text close to where they are first referenced.

References and Citation

1. APA Style:

   • All references and in-text citations must follow the APA 7th Edition format.
   • Examples of in-text citations:
     • Single author: (Smith, 2020).
     • Two authors: (Smith & Jones, 2021).
     • Three or more authors: (Smith et al., 2022).

2. Reference List:

   • The reference list should appear at the end of the manuscript in alphabetical order.
   • Persian references must be transliterated into English in addition to their original form (if applicable).

3. Examples:

   • Book:

     Smith, J. (2020). Cognitive Behavioral Approaches to Learning. New York, NY: Academic Press.

   • Journal Article:

     Brown, R., & Lee, T. (2021). The impact of learning strategies on memory retention. Journal of Learning Science, 12(3), 45-67. https://doi.org/10.xxxx

Submission Process

1. Submission Portal:

   • All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission system or via the designated email.

2. Cover Letter:

   • Authors must submit a cover letter addressed to the Chief Editor, stating the manuscript’s originality, significance, and compliance with the journal’s guidelines.

3. Plagiarism Check:

   • Manuscripts are screened using iThenticate for plagiarism. Submissions with significant overlap or unethical borrowing will be rejected.

4. Conflict of Interest:

   • Authors must declare any potential conflicts of interest in their submission.

Ethical Considerations

• Manuscripts must comply with the ethical guidelines of the journal as detailed on the Publication Ethics page.
• Authors must ensure that the study adheres to ethical research standards, including informed consent and institutional approvals, where applicable.

Article Processing Charges (APCs)

• Upon acceptance, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 1,500,000 Tomans will be applied.
• No charges are required for submission or initial review.
