Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of social-emotional skills training on resilience and aggression in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and a one-and-a-half month follow-up. The statistical population of the study included all male children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder aged 11 to 12 years who referred to the Omid and Neshat Psychological Center in Tehran in 2024. 30 children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder were selected through purposeful sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups (15 people each). The instruments used in this study were the Connor and Davidson Resilience Scale (2003) and the Shahim Aggression Questionnaire (2006). The experimental group received social-emotional skills training in 10 weekly sessions, each session lasting 75 minutes, and the control group was placed on a waiting list to receive training. The research data were analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance in SPSS-26 software. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of resilience and aggression (P < 0.001). Therefore, it is concluded that social-emotional skills training was effective in increasing resilience and reducing aggression in the experimental group.
