Abstract

The aim of the present study was to identify the components and elements of the Sensory Sensitivity Empowerment Program (VAKT-Based), develop the program, and assess its content validity for gifted students with low-achieving. The research method was qualitative and a synthesis study. The statistical population included all articles and research related to sensory sensitivity. The sample size was 92 articles that were published between 2012 and 2023. Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, initially 27 and then after studying the abstracts of the documents, the quality of the articles, and the level of relevance, 13 were selected as the research sample. The six-stage model of Petticrow and Roberts (2006) was used to analyze the data, and the content validity index was used for content validity. According to the research findings, the sensory sensitivity empowerment program is based on 6 main themes including: neural mechanisms, sensory profiles, individual and environmental factors, emotional and psychological factors, sensory well-being, and sensory integration. Content validity was obtained based on a content validity index of 0.82, which indicated acceptable content validity of the program. Therefore, the sensory sensitivity empowerment program for gifted students with low-achieving can be used as an effective tool in improving sensory sensitivity and promoting sensory function of these individuals and has high potential for use in educational and therapeutic interventions and can be a basis for future research in this field.
