This study aimed to develop and test a predictive model of prosocial behavioral tendency based on the emotional experience of awe, with cultural collectivism as a mediating variable among adults in Tehran. This applied, cross-sectional study employed a descriptive-correlational design. The statistical population consisted of men and women aged 18–50 years residing in Tehran. Initially, 377 participants were recruited through convenience sampling; after excluding incomplete questionnaires, data from 300 participants were analyzed. The instruments included Penner’s Prosocial Personality Battery, the awe subscale of the Dispositional Positive Emotion Scales, and the short form of the Horizontal and Vertical Individualism and Collectivism Scale. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and structural equation modeling in SPSS and LISREL. Awe was positively and significantly correlated with prosocial behavior (r = 0.478, p < 0.01), and cultural collectivism was also positively associated with prosocial behavior (r = 0.328, p < 0.01). Structural equation modeling showed that awe had a significant positive direct effect on prosocial behavior (β = 0.51, t = 7.46, p < 0.001). Awe also positively predicted cultural collectivism (β = 0.21, t = 3.13, p < 0.01), and cultural collectivism positively predicted prosocial behavior (β = 0.15, t = 2.46, p < 0.05). The indirect effect of awe on prosocial behavior through collectivism was significant (Z = 2.151, p = 0.031). Model fit indices were satisfactory (χ²/df = 1.93, RMSEA = 0.056, CFI = 0.97). Awe may promote prosocial behavioral tendencies both directly and indirectly by strengthening cultural collectivism; thus, cultural collectivism plays a partial mediating role in this relationship.
